Bulk Page Creator

UPDATE 04.01.2012: version 1.0.4 is out with the ability to add pages in ‘draft’ status…

As a Web Developer, one of my biggest issues is always the initial bulk population of websites with content.

Although most of the population can be done by the client once the website has been built, I sometimes need a bit of content just to test everything is working correctly and that the site supports scalability.

So adding a few pages is always necessary to make sure the navigation populates correectly and is displayed properly across all pages and browsers.

This means quite a lot of time spent adding pages manually in the WordPress system. I do recognize that the system is not really built for this kind of work – and I do not blame the WordPress team, but I thought instead I can create a plugin that does just that…

The Bulk Page Creator Plugin is exactly made for this purpose it creates a screen in WordPress where you can quickly add all pages in hierarchical order via JavaScript (which makes it even faster) and then with a click of a button create all of them.

The pages will be created with their title as a header one tag in the page content.

Installation

You can go to the plugin page on WordPress, or better yet search for “bulk page creator” on your WordPress Admin Plugin search and install it directly from there.

Here is also a screen shot of the Plugin.

So if you got any comments or requests to make this plugin any better, just let me know…

Hi, I love this plugin I do have a request… Could you make it add
Lines
of
page
Titles
in
a
list

then create all pages at once instead of individual?

I am using Iframe and random text on each page and require no parent page

Thanks

Paul

Hey Paul, thanks for the comment… I was thinking of doing some sort of an import.

Maybe use a regular text file with pages on different lines and by importing it – it would create all pages.

I was also thinking of using tabs as structure indicators (i.e. if a page under a page is tabbed will make it its child)

Something for me to think about for the next release of the plugin – keep checking the plugin for updates I will have something in place for the next release.

Cheers
Dagan

[...] When working with websites with a lot of initial pages, I’ve found this plug-in to be very helpful. I used to create each page manually using Pages > New Page, but as you know, this includes a few steps, and with multiple pages, it can become tedious. This plug-in let’s you create pages very quickly in one screen without page reloads. Plug-in Link [...]

many thanks – keep up the good work

Hey Mark, Thanks for the feedback…
Normally pages are not associated with categories, so unless they have been programmatically enabled (via a plugin, a theme or your own code ) this is no possible – so I’d rather not add this functionality – for all those who are using the plugin and have not associated their pages with categories. Sorry…
